Privacy Policy

World Dashboard (referred to as "we", "us", or "our") is the operator of the World Dashboard application and website. We act as the data controller of the personal information you provide through the service.

We only collect what we need to run your account and deliver alerts:

• Account details: your email address and a hashed password. If you sign in with Google, we receive the name and email address Google shares with us.
• Notification preferences: which alert types you follow, your preferred delivery method (email or both), and severity thresholds you set.
• Optional location: if you grant permission, the app reads your device location once, solely to center the globe and show nearby events. We do not store your precise location on our servers.
• Feedback: the message, category, and optional contact email you choose to send through the feedback form.
• Operational logs: standard technical logs (timestamps, request identifiers) used to keep the service running and to diagnose problems.
• Analytics: limited usage events such as which screen you viewed, the sign-in method you chose, and an internal checkout identifier, used to understand which features are used and fix issues. We never sell or share personal data for advertising.

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account and authenticate your sessions.
• Send alert notifications and a weekly "what you missed" recap email, based on the preferences you set.
• Display the interactive globe, your saved filters, and the events around you.
• Process premium subscriptions and verify access to paid features.
• Respond to your feedback and support requests.
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

Our legal basis for the processing above is: your consent for notification emails and weekly recaps (which you can withdraw using the unsubscribe link in any email), the performance of your contract with us to create and run your account and deliver the service, and our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, and improving how it works.

The events shown on the globe come from public, authoritative scientific feeds. These include the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) for earthquakes, the Tsunami Warning centers, NASA and NOAA services including DONKI for space weather and GIBS for satellite imagery, the Global Disaster Alert and Coordination System (GDACS), and near-Earth object catalogs for asteroid close approaches. We display this data as published by those sources and do not control its accuracy or timeliness.

We share data only with the services that power the app, under contracts that protect it:

• Google, when you choose Google sign-in. We only receive the name and email address Google shares with us.
• Polar, which processes premium subscription payments on our behalf. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not store your full card number.
• Base44, the platform that hosts the World Dashboard application, handles authentication, stores your account and alert preferences, and delivers the emails we send.

When you sign in with Google, your use of Google is also governed by Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights, or to respond to a valid legal request.

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the account menu in the app, which also cancels any active premium subscription and removes your alert preferences and feedback. When you do, we remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security purposes.

We use local browser storage to keep you signed in, to cache recent hazard data so the dashboard loads faster, and to remember that we have already offered our install prompt. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. You can clear local browser storage in your browser settings at any time.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Delete your account and the personal data tied to it.
• Object to or restrict certain processing.
• Withdraw consent to email notifications at any time.
• Export a copy of your data in a portable format.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you believe we have mishandled your data.

We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

World Dashboard is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us and we will remove the account.

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where this happens we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to keep the data protected.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted password hashing and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we act to reduce risk.

We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
